I grew up at the intersection of the ROCK ISLAND LINES and the KEOKUK & DES MOINES RR in Eldon in Southeastern Iowa and didn't appreciate it until it was history.  I always complained about the train blocking the crossing when I was hot-footin' it to town to have a soda at Whitey's and I remember Dad swearing because the call-boy found him on a day that the fish were bitin'. The K&DM (we called it the KD or "Hog & Human" since it carried both on early trips) would go North along the Des Moines River across from our cabin and the engineer would blow the horn.  We'd wave knowing that "Augie" was on board. All that's gone now except the memories.  Those were, indeed, very good times!!!!

Folks, I'm a project person.  I accumulate stuff and dabble in all sorts of hobby type projects. 

Out of odds and ends copper plumbing I make whistles that sound like steam engine whistles.

 I recycle odds and ends small hardware and materials.

And have I mentioned my rocks?  I've got some fun stuff.

I hope to do some mosaic stepping stones if I have time. I've certainly got the stuff and I lay tile so there you go.
